A SMALL WORD HUNT

Let one letter lead to another.

Collect English words of 4–9 letters by following touching tiles. Move horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You can turn corners, and you cannot reuse a tile inside one word.

Click/tap letters one at a time, or drag a trail. Press Collect word when ready. Select the last tile again to remove it; select an earlier tile to shorten the trail. Clear starts a new path. You can also type a word: a legal trail is checked automatically.

Calm walk: collect 12 different words to complete the page. Sprint: score as much as possible in two minutes. The sprint clock begins with your first accepted word. Pause stops the clock; switching away automatically pauses it. A closed page retains the saved remaining time.

Four-letter words score 1 point; five score 2; six score 3; seven score 5; eight or nine score 11. Repeated words never score again. A trail hint fills an unfound legal path for you to inspect and collect; hints are counted, with no point penalty.

The bundled public-domain dictionary is broad, including uncommon or inflected forms. Proper names and dictionary conventions may vary. No online definitions or network validation are used.

Arrows move focus between tiles; Enter/Space selects the focused tile. Backspace removes the last letter outside the typing field. Escape clears a trail. Your collections save on this device.

Trie construction adapted from Bogdle by Michael Chadwick, MIT, commit 74d801b, September 29, 2026 (observed 4 stars). Its Boggle traversal is unfinished; this independent adaptation supplies a new eight-neighbor path solver, six original boards, scoring, calm and sprint modes, local saves, hints and a new interface.

Local dictionary: dwyl/english-words, public domain under the Unlicense. This bundle retains 200,008 alphabetic words of 4–9 letters. Words are checked entirely on your device.

Original GPT-generated woodland fieldbook artwork is bundled as WebP and forms the playable board surface. No upstream fonts, audio, third-party animation libraries or dictionary API are used.
